A calm quiet day

"It's nothing Selene I'm fine and it's not my blood." I looked at Selene's face and my eyes softened. "Why are you crying?" I said gently as I cupped he face in my left hand, which didn't have any blood on it. I smoothed my thumb over a tear track. I kissed her other tear track, hoping to calm her. "I will be right back down I have to clean up." I said kissing her nose before I vanished up the stairs. I got a quick shower and got dressed in fresh clean clothes. In no time I was back downstairs with my arm around Selene's waist.

Before I could answer Kol he had said he was going to wash off the blood. He kissed my nose and cheek as he left and I stood by the window knowing he would be back in a short amount of time. I felt his arm go around my waist as he returned. I looked up at him. "What did you find?" I asked. I didn't really want to know but then again I really did. I had to know these things about my mother.

I swallowed a lump in my throat. I know I shouldn't tell her this for fear of upsetting her. I was thankful that my brother didn't tell her what had happened. I knew my face looked grim. I didn't want to give her the full details so I decided on keeping it vague. "It's begun, but I lost her trail when it started to pour."

I nodded and turned back to the window. I could feel the tears well about again so I sniffed and took a breath. "I'm sure we'll find her soon." I said trying to keep in the tears that wanted to fall. I did not want to cry, and I definitely did not want to cry with two Orginals in earshot.

I tucked her against my side I knew she was trying to stop herself from crying. I knew she didn't want to cry in front of both Elijah and myself. "Would you like to get a shower and put on some clean clothes?" I asked hoping that she would take the bait so I could talk to my brother.

I chuckled. "I just got here Kol, I'm all washed up. I'd like to lay down though." I told him. I don't take showers when things are stressful, I sit and let my mind wander. Helps me step away from reality.

I smiled at Selene. "Come with me, I'll show you to a guess room." I said holding out my arm for her to take it. "Elijah I'll be back down in a few." I really needed to talk to him and we needed to find Ravyn as fast as possible for everyone's sake that was in the house at the moment.

I took his arm and nodded. This has been a really stressful day. I heard as Kol told Elijah he'll be back down, when we got to the top of the stairs I turned to him. "You'll tell me what happens right?" I asked. I wanted to part of this plan and make sure the two weren't hiding things from me.

I lead her upstairs once she took my arm. Once we were up on the landing. How was I supposed to tell her that one of the kindest vampires was the most dangerous and sadistic killers out there. Granted she did tell me that at one point my father tortured her. But she always went off the deep end every once in a while. I looked over at Selene. "We are going to leave out the details for now but all you need to know is that she just killed two campers. I need to discuss things with Elijah, and I don't want you to be in the same room because I don't want to lose you too." I know it sounded pathetic but she just walked back into my life. I didn't want to lose her just like we just lost Ravyn. I cleared my throat as I led her down the hall. "Do you want the guess room next to mine, or your mom's room?"

I nodded to let Kol know I understood. "Guest room." I said and followed him again. I was really starting to feel exhausted.

I lead her down one of the long halls. I stopped in front of the guest room that was next to mine. "This room is for you, my room is the one on the left side. If you need anything I'll be downstairs with Elijah." I looked at her, she looked extremely exhausted.

I nodded at him again and then feeling extremely bold I stood on my tippy toes and kissed him. It was quick but for me it was at least something to let him know how I still felt about him. "Thank you." I said and quickly opened the door shutting it, leaving him to wonder what just happened.

She suddenly kissed me, thanked me then shut herself in the guest room. I just stood there with a dumbfounded look on my face. After a few minutes I shook my head and headed downstairs. I walked into the same room that Elijah was in. I probably still had the same expression on my face.

When I heard Kol step into the room I turned around ready to speak with him when I saw the look on his face. "Why do you look so...lost?" I asked confused. I couldn't think of the right word but Kol looked as if someone just tried to explain the Laws of Physics to him.

I looked up at my brother then ran a hand through my hair and rubbed my face. "Don't ask." I sighed out as I headed over to a chair. My mind was reeling from today's events. I leaned back into the chair and closed my eyes. I inhaled then exhaled heavily before reopening my eyes. "Did you have any luck?" My tone was grave because I didn't think the would help at all.

I shook my head to tell myself to just leave Kol alone cause it was his business and I knew I didn't want to know. "Its not the best of luck but its a start. A friend of mine as agreed to help us but shes not exactly the best tracker, she can get the job done though." I said answering Kol's question.

I wasn't exactly thrilled that his contact wasn't one of the best trackers. "Well as of right now she's all we have so that's going to have to do. I just hope we find Ravyn before she eliminates whole towns." I said glumly as I looked at my brother squarely. "So do you think of her differently since you now know what she's done in the past and what she's capable of doing?" I was really curious to see if his opinion changed about her since I sent him the pictures of her victims.

"Of course not. Ravyn will always be Ravyn to me, no matter what she does." I told him. Ravyn had a good heart but as a vampire I did expect her to have a dark side.

"Good cause she's going to need us to not see her any differently. She doesn't do too well with things not being normal after her episodes." I got up out of my chair. "Need something to drink?" I waited for his answer before I left to go raid the liquor cabinet.

"No thank you." I told my brother as he went to the liquor cabinet. "So how does she overcome after all that shes done?"

I poured myself a drink and downed it in one shot. I looked at my brother squarely. "She doesn't!" I stated bluntly while filling up my glass with out looking at it. "Normally we just fight, throw each other around. Through basically everything. Then after some massive compulsion she flips her switch back on." As I spoke I flashed back to a few centuries ago when she last switched off her emotions. I didn't have to compel her. "The last time she did this I didn't have to compel her. She ended up flipping her switch back on after she killed a child." I said grimly with none of my usually snarky-ness.

"Well one things for sure, I don't want us to use compulsion on her at all. She needs to be able to flip on by herself from now on and learn to control it." I told him. I loved Ravyn, like a sister, but I was not going to babysit her.

I raised an eyebrow at my brother. "We might not have a choice Elijah. If we have to compel her then we have to. No if's and's or buts about it, she has less control with switching off her emotions thanks to that damn witch." I spat out the last thing because I didn't like the dark magic using witch. I scrunched up my nose. Crap, Elijah doesn't know about Ravyn's dirty little secret.

"Well we will just have to deal with that when the time comes won't we?" I said to my brother. I didn't care what he said, if I didn't have to use compulsion I wasn't going to use it. If my younger brother has forgotten he agreed to go by my terms.

I groaned loudly and downed another shot. I started to pace around the room. I hated having to wait patiently because patience was never my strong suit. I looked over at my brother. "How can you be so damn calm right now? Never mind don't answer that." I spoke in a snarky tone. "Always the eternal patient one." I muttered to myself as I paced back over to the liquor, to pour myself another drink.
