| Mark was sitting at the corner in the Grill. This was his first time going out in public as he arrived trying his best to keep low, not getting any attention was a good thing. It really was just his thing, keeping low profile so nobody notices him, he had a hard time making friends though, not letting anybody close to him was his talent. Mark wasn't drinking anything, he just sat there looking at the people that were in the Grill.. It was strange, there he felt like he found his new home.. | |

| Erin just walked into the Grill with her hands wrapped around her small body. This was her old home. Mystic Falls. She had returned with her brother, who was never truly home or treated her kindly. She was just happy he finally decided she could venture out a bit. Her eyes wandered around a bit as she slowly begun to walk towards the actual bar. She was not a heavy drinker, but she was truly in the mood for a tall glass of ice tea. After her drink was put in order, she finally took a look around at everyone in the Grill. She did not recognize anyone, making her feel small and defenseless. As if she was truly all alone. | |

| Mark did feel like an outsider though, he tried to change though but there was a fact that he will always be a soldier. Down in his heart he always knew that he was broken, but he never shows it. He got up and walked to the bar. There was a girl ordering a glass of ice tea. "Can I please get a glass of water?" Mark spoke with a soft voice, he had a barely visible smile as his black eyes were looking at the waiter. The waiter brought him a glass with water, he thanked him as his look slightly wandered towards the girl that was next to him. He smiled as he tried to move his look away, taking a sip. | |

| Erin then felt eyes on her and looked. Her blue eyes stopped on the black ones of the man next to her. She could easily feel the blush on her cheeks as she looked at him. Her lips slightly parted from each other as she looked up. He was very handsome. She was wondering how a man who looked like this could be alone in a place like this. With no girl on his arm. "Hello there sir" she stated with a slight whisper. She was a shy girl at first, but once someone got to know her she was a bubbly girl who loved to make people smile. | |

| Mark smiled, her words were so gentle that they touched him deeply, making him gaze at her blue eyes. They were beautiful, nobody really could make him feel like this but the girl was surely someone that he could not ignore even though he tried. It was beyond his control, he couldn't help but smile and blush slightly as she was different than any other girl that talked to him. He did wonder why she was all alone around here.. "Hello.. Excuse me but.. Your eyes are beautiful.." He spoke with a soft tone, his european accent was slighlty showing but it didn't bother him so much, his eyes were fixed at her beautiful blue orbs. It was like she was looking at his soul. | |

| The young girl that went by the name of Erin blushed. She could not tell of pink her cheeks were by now once he complemented her. No one has ever told her about how gorgeous her eyes were. Not even her own brother. "Thank you so much. I could say the same about your eyes as well." A smile spread on her pale pink lips as she found her right hand playing with her dark brown hair. This was a nervous habit of hers. She was shy to the gorgeous man, but she felt herself ease around him. "My name is Erin by the way." She stopped playing with her hair as she held out her right hand for him to shake her hand. | |

| Mark put the glass of water on the bar counter, as he couldn't help but move his look at the girls hair. He could hear her compliment making him smile as he moved his look back at her eyes. "Thank you, but at the same time my eyes show my emotions.." He was happy, hard to believe it but the girl did give him the peace he was looking for, he couldn't explain how but.. She was different, he could see that. She introduced herself to him, extending her arm so that Mark could shake it, which he did, he shook her hand slowly and gently enjoying her touch. "What a lovely name, my name is Mark. It's really a pleasure meeting you." Erin could notice that he wasn't around here, his accent was showing slightly yet it was kind of atracting, meeting a stranger like that. His look was soft and filled with respect that he felt towards her. | |

| Erin smiled kindly as she then asked kindly, "I hope you do not mind, Mark, but I was wondering where you are from? I can tell you aren't from Mystic Falls or from the United States at all. I hope I didn't sound rude just asking you that. I am actually a pretty curious person." Her smiled stayed on her pale, pink lips as she looked at him. Her heart fluttered a bit in her chest as she kept a hold of his hand. She was not going to let go of his hand, not until he wanted to though. It was as if their hands were made to fit one and other. Her eyes looked into his eyes still. They were calm, peacefully, attractive, and gorgeous. The best eyes she has ever seen in her life. | |

| "It's okay, don't worry about it.." Mark spoke with a gentle voice now, trying to show her that it was alright. "I'm actually from Serbia, a country located in Europe, Balkan actually, near Greece. I have been travelling around the world for quite some time.." He added while his fingers moved slightly, holding her hand gently yet firm, it really did feel nice. He has avoided contact with anybody for a long time, but she could bring the very best out of him.. "If you have any questions feel free to ask." Mark had a gentle smile as his eyes showed that he was happy and that he was very curious to who this beautiful girl is and he wanted to hear more about her. The only girl in a long time that brought him peace.. | |

| Erin blinked her eyes slightly and smiled kindly. "I will keep that in mind, Mark. And also, do not be afraid to ask me anything as well." She had no clue as to why she was opening up to him so easily. It was as if he had an affect on her where she could talk to him about anything and he would not judge her or make her feel like garbage. It felt great to finally find someone to open up to. Even if he was the most attractive person she has ever met and might of thought of her of nothing more than a friend, she did not care. Erin did, though, thought that her and Mark could make a cute couple and a great couple people would be envious of. She was just thrilled someone who looked like him would talk to a girl like her. | |

| "Well.. I could ask you this. Why are you here all alone? I mean, a girl like you.. You don't look like a lonely type like me." He was honest, Erin didn't look like that kind of person. Mark was used to the constant silence after what he has gone through. It was painful to remember those things and his eyes now showed pain and confusion.. Yet he had a smile on his face even though he looked at her with those black eyes that showed so much sadness, yet he knew that she could understand him. Mark felt like Erin understood his feelings but it was still hard for him to show anybody what he was truly like.. Yet his hand started to shake slightly as he could taste the blood in his mouth, damn.. The flashbacks always had this effect on him but he shook it off, trying to focuse not to remember. He focused on her blue eyes which brought him peace, it really did help him as he thought only about her. | |

| Erin could see the sadness and pain in his eyes. She placed her other hand onto the hand she was holding. It was as if she was holding his hand with both of her hands. She just wanted him happy again. His shaking traveled up her arms slightly. "I am here alone because I am alone. I have no one besides a hate filled brother. He hates me and this is one of the first days I have been out here in this town, and boy am I glad he let me out today." She was in fact trying to make him feel better. Mark gave her a warm and lovely feeling in her heart as she looked into his sad black eyes. She wanted to see them happy again. | |

| There was something about her touch that made him relax.. Her hands were gentle and soft, Mark wasn't used to holding hands with anybody but she made him feel free.. Like he has nothing to fear, you could see hope in his eyes, hope that he will wake up and stop living a nightmare in his head. There was something that she didn't know about him, but she had to.. She told him her story making him feel a bit sad, Erin didn't deserve to be treated like that, she deserved to be happy, but Mark.. Mark didn't. "You don't deserve to be hated.. You do not deserve to be alone.." He added with a soft tone, so gentle to the ear as he moved his other hand. He used his hand to move the hair that was on her face, moving it to the side he touched her cheek gently and smiled as his eyes were looking down to her soul, the sight was breathtaking...

| Erin found her pale, pink, lush lips part slightly as her blue eyes twinkled from the lights of the bar. Her heart pounded against her chest as she slightly squeezed his hand. Just the touch of his hands made the hair on her arms stand, as this was a very good feeling for her. She found her heart beat as fast as a racecar. Her stomach also got butterflies in her stomach as she looked into his eyes. Mark made her feel special, wanted, loved, and many more. She could not describe the feelings he gave her. "M-M-Mark...have you been hurt before?" She could sense he was never usually this open with anyone and she wanted him to be open. She wanted to know the full on honest truth about him. She wanted Mark to know that she was going to be there for him, no matter what. | |

| Mark knew that Erin was special in a way, usually you needed to tie Mark down so you can get something out of him, but this time it was different.. Was it going to be a good change? He had a soft smile as he could sense what she was feeling, that same feeling that he had. He felt accepted, in a way he knew that she was worth any pain.. Mark didn't move his look from her eyes, they brought him so much peace.. She asked him something.. Something that made him fight his emotions deep inside, should he be happy or sad at this point as some of the memories got back from the past.. "Yes." He said his voice slightly shaking as he fought with himself not to show any negative emotions. "I got hurt often.. Both emotional and physical.." He added moving his look down at the ground, not showing his eyes as he was trying to stay calm.. | |

| Erin frowns as she did now know what to do or say. She then did the one thing she knew she was good at when comforting people. She hugged him. Yes she did hug a complete stranger, but it was in Erin's nature to hug people who were hurt, just like her. She hugged him around his torso as her head rested on the mid of his chest. "I am so sorry I asked you Mark. I am truly sorry." Erin whispered this to him as she closed her eyes. She felt that now she brought back his pain. "I am sorry..." | |

| Mark felt her arms go around his body as she embraced him in her arms, hugging him. At first Mark was confused as to why she was hugging him? He hasn't been hugged in years now.. But it did give him a warm feeling deep inside as his eyes showed what he felt. Acceptance, but at the same time he was scared, he wasn't used showing his emotions. He hugged her back.. "It's not your fault.. Really, I'm always like this.." He said with a soft voice, whispering these words in her ear gently.. It really wasn't Erin's fault.. His past is very tragic and that is why his emotions are all messed up.. That is why he has flashbacks and those memories will haunt him.. | |

| Erin shivered slightly as she listened to his voice go into her ear in a whisper. Her blue eyes slowly looked up at him. "Mark, I want to help you. I do not know how I can do that, but all I know is that I truly want to help you. My heart is telling me to help you." she whispered all of this to him as she hugged him slightly tighter. She did not tell him, though, that her heart was telling her much more than to help him. It was telling her about how handsome he was and, well, much more. A smile spread on her lips as she tried to look brave for Mark. Erin wanted him to feel comfortable around her. And she would do anything to make him feel better. | |

| Mark moved his look at her blue eyes as he had a soft smile on his face. No one has ever been this nice to him, being that he was always pushing people away from himself, but it was always to protect them. Mark realised a long time ago, if somebody got too close to him, eventually people would die because of him.. And that is the reason he hates himself deep inside, not finding a way to protect his friends.. Well, it's not like he had many friends.. "I hate to admit it.. But I'm a lost cause.. I'll only end up hurting you.." He added with a soft yet sad tone as his smile faded from his lips, his eyes were filled with hatered towards himself, he moved his look to the side so she didn't see him fighting himself.. "But you should know.. I will always protect you.." He added gently his eyes moving back at her beautiful blue orbs as he had a soft smile on his face.. This time he would go to any lenghts just to protect Erin.. Even if it cost him his own life. | |

| Erin found herself touching the right side of Mark's cheek with her left hand. "Mark, I don't think I can be hurt more than what I have been through and what I am going through right now." She let the words into sink her. 'I will always protect you..' Those words gave Erin shiver up and down her spine as she looked into his perfect eyes. "Would you really protect me Mark?" she asked with her lips parted from one and other. Her heart thudded louder than before. It sounded like a bass drum. | |

| Mark was surprised by her touch, even though he liked Erin's touch it was something within him that was making him feel odd.. What was it? He was fighting himself again, deep inside he didn't know if he should let her come any closer to his heart, the wall was just too thick. No one has ever broken it down.. But he was afraid if she did, he never really did feel happiness.. "I'm always going to protect you.. Even if I had to give my life for you." He answered, his soft tone was this time more gental showing her that he meaned it. It wasn't a joke, when he says something like this he usually means it... She was special in his eyes making his heartbeat go a bit faster.. | |

| Erin's eyes widen a bit as she listened and hung onto each word close to her heart. She even touched her heart with one of her hands slightly. "You would risk your own life to save me Mark? You really would do that?" she asked him, in a very, very, very soft whisper. She then looked up at him. Her eyes looked like they were searching into his soul to make sure he was not lying to her at all. She had been hurt by her brother, which caused her to have some trust issues. She needed someone to be open with. And she then believed that, that someone was going to be Mark. | |

| Mark moved the her hand that he was holding onto his chest, Erin could feel his heartbeat. It was at a fast pace, she could understand that it was due to the fact he liked her too much.. "Believe me.. I've done so much things in my life.. It would mean so much if I can be a part of your life.." He added with his soft smile, answering her question. Her hand could feel something under his clothes, it was something on his chest.. His eyes were looking at her hand that was on his chest then he moved his look at her blue eyes.. They were beautiful making him smile as he felt like he was dreaming.. A moment ago he was all alone in this new place with nothing to fight for.. Now he has found that, he wanted to be there for Erin.. It was his duty, as soldier, they taught him to protect the people he loved.. His heart skipped a beat realising that he is falling for Erin.. | |
