What if...? (Lucas & Victoria)

The man looks her in the eyes, but says nothing His mouth seems to be sealed. His eyes are hopeless, he seems lost.

I'm not waiting for any answer because I don't care what he would like to say. "You did all this for what? Fun? Or did you wanted to be part of then? Why was it? How can you live eith this burden? How can you wake up very day living a normal life like nothing had ever happened?" My voice gets louder and I get really aggressive.

I look at him and notice that his eyes are dilated. He's compelled not to speak. The man offers a small nod. That means that your compeller is still alive. I snap my fingers to get his attention. He meets my eyes. My eyes narrow as I compel him. You may- All of a sudden he gasps. I stand straight again. Ironic, your compeller's just been killed. His eyes widen and he coughs. I'm sorry, Ms. Fields. They, they compelled me to do it. I couldn't resist. I'm-I'm sorry. I look at his neck. He's been fed on. IT's still dripping. I rip some fabric from my shirt and wrap it tightly around his neck.

I shake my head. Somehow my anger disappears. I can't be angry at this man who was not even himself. He was just a victim, like my father was. I sigh and try not to freak out.

I set my gun in my holster and kneel in front of him. I'm going to do the best thing I possibly can do for you. My pupils minimize and his dilate. I speak You don't remember me or anything about the Field family. You remember nothing about the past 21 years of your life that have correlated with vampires and murder. You will run from the vampires if you see them, but you will not know anything if they ask you. Go home. Get a job. Meet a nice girl. He stands and walks off out of the cave. I stand and shrug my shoulders. I look at Victoria and wrap my arms around her as a tear falls down her cheek. I hold her to me and rub circles on her back.

"Well, now I know who that mysterious man that was I was hiding of." I try to laugh but it changes into crying. I rest my rad on his chest and close my eyes.

I hold her to me and sit down in the chair. She sits on my lap and I hold her to me as she cries. I rub soothing circles on her back. No words are needed right now.

I just sit with him and don't say anything at all. The silence helps me a lot. I sigh and look to the opening of the cave.

I look at her. I speak softly. Find the answers you were looking for? I ask her.

"Yes. I guess some things should not be researched a lot." I shrug and try to smile at him. But I'm over it now. I don't feel the need to research more about all those things.

I look at her and lightly shake my head. You don't need to do that fake smile with me. You don't have to pretend to be okay. I understand, Victoria.

"I'm serious. I mean okay, I guess I'm not fine yet. But I will. I got my answers", I say and look to him. I know that he wants me to be happy because he cares. And I try not to make him feel bad, because I do. I just have to let all this information cool down.

I nod lightly and pick her up bridal style before blurring us back to the house. I set her on the couch and fix a glass of bourbon for her. I hand it to her before sitting beside her and wrapping an arm around her shoulders.

"Thanks", I say look to the glass and drink all of the bourbon. My throat starts burning but I welcome that feeling. I really don't want to get drunk either, but the alcohol relaxes my muscles and my brain.

I look at her and chuckle. Don't worry. I have no intentions of allowing you to get drunk. I kiss her temple as the fire crackles. Zeus jumps up on the couch and sits down next to me. I rest a hand on his back and rub him. Loyal as ever.

I smile as I see Zeus again. I love this dog. As much as I love his owner.

I smile softly and trace circles on her arm. Feeling better?

I smile. "Yes definitely. Thanks to you", I say and look to him. I'm happy that he's here with me.
