New Friends? (Avril/Kat)

I take a seat at the bar and order a Cognac on the rocks. I take a sip and settle onto my stool. I'm dressed in grey jeans, a navy tank top and a black leather jacket. I'm not particularly looking for company tonight but I wouldn't object either. Americans amuse me. There's a "football" game on TV. I don't really understand why they call it Football if you use your hands. They call our football, Soccer. That makes no sense at all, but hey-whatever. Once a Brit always a Brit I guess.

I walk into the Mystic Grill and look around. There are a lot of people around. I take of my leather jacket and walk to the bar. I bite my lip as I sit down and order a Cape Codder while I take out my phone. My cousin Amelie is calling. From Paris. I sigh and take the call "Alo? Mais oui, bien sur. Alors, Amelie, c'est tres tard..Non, je...Alo?" I brush a strand of my red straight hair behind my ear and sigh. Amelie is the strangest person in the world. She calls me, wants something, if I say no she hangs up. Every time. I put my phone away and take a sip of the cocktail.

I turn to the girl. Elle semble ammusant. I chuckle. I used to have a few friends like that, not anymore, but from your tone I'm guessing she's family. I take a sip of my drink. Majoring in psychology, sociology and forensics was good for me. I can read people like a book. I am a soldier after all; my dog tags hang from my neck.

I have to smile. "Is that so obvious? It was my cousin. She's... special." I sigh and take another sip of my drink. The woman looks at me as if she was amused about what happened to me. "Well, it's good that my french is not awesome, so sometimes I can just start talking english and she gives up."
I look to the woman that seems to watch all my moves as if I was a scientific experiment. I clear my throat. "I'm Avril."

I smile. I'm Katherine. You can relax; I'm sorry. I used to be Special Ops. I gesture to my dog tags. Majored in Psychology and Sociology; I read people when I meet them. Old habit; I apologize. I take another sip of my drink.

I have to smile. "It's fine. I was just wondering." I can tell that she is a hybrid, I don't know how but it's seems obvious to me. But I don't confront or ask her about it. Instead, I just sit there and look on my drink. I'm thirsty again. It's awful. Being a werewolf after the party was enough. But then Klaus made everything worse by turning me into a hybrid. I was studying at the Duke University now and came to Mystic Falls because I was hoping to find someone that could help me with my new life. And also I was looking for Klaus. I didn't want him to just live his life without any regret. I hate him.

I take another sip of my drink. A group of three guys comes up and surrounds me. Hey gorgeous; what's a pretty girl like you doing all by yourself? I wouldn't do anything normally, but then he touches my ass. In a second I twist his arm around his back and knee him hard in the stomach. I whisper in his ear. Staying away from men like you. I have a boyfriend; get the hell out of here. I release his arm and they go running out. I sit back down on the stool. So-how are you? I ask non-chalantly. My doing so is meant to be humorous; I'm sure she'll point out the fact that I just floored three men.

I have to smile, when Katherine sits back on her chair. "That was impressive" I say and look to the door. The group of men are leaving as if they saw a ghost. I have to laugh about that. "I think you're someone I would get along with. So, Katherine. I can tell that you are from England. Are you new in town like me?"

I shake my head. I've been here for the past year, so I'm not overly new. I raise my eyebrows. What brought you to this town? It's not exactly the ideal tourist destination. I chuckle.

"That's true. I'm studying near Mystic Falls and I was interested in living here. I was born in France but we moved here when I was little." I shrug. I don't lie to her but I also don't tell the whole story. I'm not sure if she's sired to Klaus so I rather be quiet.

I nod. I'm not sired to Klaus; you can relax. I was but not anymore. I chuckle. It's good that you're careful though.

I believe her. I nod and tell her the rest of the story. "I'm also here to find a way to kill Klaus. Somehow. I don't know how yet, but I'll figure it out I guess." I give her a small smile and take the last sip of my drink.
