Double Date (Alexa, Jon, Kendall, Luke)

I take a sip of my beer and wrap my arm around Kendall as we sit in a booth at The Grill. We've been waiting for Jon and Alexa to get here for our "double date." I think it's time for Jon to meet her considering that we're pretty serious, now. I know Alexa, but I'm not sure if I like them together. We'll see tonight. What movie did you say we're going to see with them? I know Kendall bought tickets in advance, I generally just give her my credit card and let her do what she likes with it. I trust her, and what's mine is hers.

She dressed in a black skirt that was short in the front, talloring to become longer in the back with black stilltoes and a red tube top. Her hair was braided to one shoulder. She was wrapped up in Luke's arms. It was nice to finally meet his brother and his girlfriend since there was nobody she could call family now because of Klaus. "I bought tickets for warm bodies. I thought it would be good, funny, and give us time to talk. It's finally nice to meet your brother. What's he like?" she asked before sipping on her burbon.

I smile. It never ceases to amaze me that my girlfriend drinks bourbon. Good choice; Jon's a good guy. He's a military type, like me. He's a bit more serious than I am. We've had our issues. He struggles to understand that I left for the military to lead the vampires away from him. I left him with our father, who trained him and got him ready for the supernatural world he'd have to face. He is right on one count, I didn't join the military just to lead the vampires away him. I did it to get away. After our mother died, I had to be the strong one because our father turned into an alcoholic. I never had a chance to mourn. I guess joining the Marines was my way of honoring her; it was my grieving. He resents me for leaving; but if I hadn't gone, he'd be dead. You'll like him. Alexa's a nice girl too. Alexa's 17 and Jon's 18, but their maturity is a lot greater than that of a teenager's. This'll be good. Jon and I haven't seen each other very often lately, even though he just moved in. I frown. I'm not sure how he'll behave, but I think he'll be fine with Alexa and you around. I'm glad we're doing this. I give a small smile. Thank you for doing this, Kendall.

"Wow. I would have never guessed. I...well, I never had a great relationship with my mom. You see, I've been dancing since I was three. Music videos, competitions, movies, t.v. shows, everything under the sun. My mom loved the money more than she loved me. I began to drive when I was 16. She wanted to help me. She scared me and I ran off the road. She died on impact and I inacted my gene. My dad knew what I was, I got it from him. Everything was good untill I turned 20. Klaus came after me. He fed me his blodd and the first hybrid kill I made...Thats why it was hard in the begining between us. I'm sorry. I just dont really want to remember that." she said. She didnt want to come out with it directly upon who she killed first. She thought it was pretty evident who it was by now.

I rub her back as she talks. God, no wonder she was so hesitant at first. Her mother died in a car crash while Kendall was driving, and she was forced to kill her own father. Kendall, I'm sorry. I've never told anyone this, but you deserve to know why I'm so-protective of my mother. I sigh. When I was 17, Jon was 15 he was a skinny guy. He constantly argued with my father. One day, I heard yelling from the cellar. I ran downstairs and there was my father, beating Jon to no end. I couldn't get in; my father, had locked the gate. I was so angry; it triggered my gene. My mother tried to help me- to stop me from getting out the front door. She was trying to protect me from being discovered. I had changed too much by the time she blocked the door, I had lost control. I shake my head. I need to say it out loud. I can trust Kendall. She deserves to know. I killed her and left my little brother motherless, not my best moment. I take a long gulp of my beer. This is a conversation I never thought that I'd have.

She felt like crying for him. He was protecting his brother. His mother died a martyr protecting her son. "We're more broken than what he think. If anyone should be sorry, it's me." she said taking a hold of one of his hands that were drapped over her. She rested her head on his chest, no caring about any stares she could have possibly gotten. "Thats the reason why I dont drive. And the reason why I am not sired. Even though my mom let me suffer her astrangment from her, the pain from turning reminded me of what she went through. So klaus didnt help me, he ruined me." she said giving him the reason why she was not sired.

She rests her head against my chest, grabbing my hand as she speaks. I wrap my free arm around her and press a kiss to her hair. I don't give a damn what the other customers think. She's been through so much. You have nothing to be sorry about. I tilt her chin up and look her in the eyes. It wasn't your fault, Kendall. You had no choice. I stroke her cheek absentmindedly. You're safe, now. I know you can take care of yourself, but I won't let anyone hurt you. I promise. I met you for a reason. right now seems like a really good time to say I love you, but after my last proclamation of love, I figure I should wait for her to say it first this time. You've saved me, Kendall. You've given me a heart.
