Brief History: Caroline was born and raised in the small town of Mystic Falls. Her mother is the sheriff of the town and tried to raise her with a warrior mentality. This effort seemingly failed as Caroline grew up caring more about clothes and proms than about following in her mother's footsteps. The deep shadow of her powerful mother seemed to cause her to be insecure and neurotic rather than inspired. However, the values of courage and loyalty instilled in her by her mother would have a profound effect on her once circumstances brought them to the surface.
Caroline was turned into a vampire by the blood of Damon Salvatore and the cruel scheming of Katerina Petrova. Wounded in a car-accident, Caroline was fed Damon's blood in order to heal her. Katerina then smothered her, triggering her transformation into a vampire. Shortly thereafter, Caroline lost control of her new urges and devoured a man. However, she has since mastered her hunger to a greater degree than either of the Salvatore brothers, the warrior mentality instilled in her by her mother allowing her to endure the hunger pains.
Caroline has aided her friends several times since becoming a vampire. Despite her youth, Caroline's courage and strength of character make her a powerful asset to friends and a ferocious beast to enemies.

Personality: a study in contradictions, insecure, neurotic, judgemental, yet fiercely loyal, brave, and with a strong if simplistic sense of justice.
