Evangeline's Arrival

Mystic Falls seemed like a good place to settle down, at least for a little while. It's obvious there's more here than meets the eye I thought to myself as I looked around. My eye catching on the sign labeled "Mystic Grill", I decided to take a look inside. It had been a long trip here from New York and I was thirsty, in more ways than one. Walking calmly to the door I took a deep breath and pulled it open, stepping inside. The strong scent of burgers and fries invaded my nose and I couldn't help but crinkle it slightly. I would never understand how people could eat these fattening foods. I had always much preferred the high-class dining, but I supposed this would have to do. I walked over to the bar silently, keeping my eyes open for anything out of the ordinary. I had definitely smelled both vampires and werewolves outside and wanted to make sure that none were able to sneak up on me due to a lack of awareness on my part. Signalling the bartender my way, I turned on my charm and offered him my sweetest smile. "Can I see your I.D.?" he asked, wanting to make sure that I was legal. I sighed, more out of resentment than anything and turned my gaze on his. "You don't need to see my I.D. All you want to do is give me whatever I want to drink on the house." I smiled again, not wanting to seem out of place here. "What can I get you?" he asked plainly. "Rum and coke on the rocks," I replied. After receiving my drink I turned and faced those in the grill, wondering if there was anyone here that I could actually find myself coming to enjoy their company. Somehow I doubted it but I had learned to keep my mind open. You never knew when someone could surprise you.

I was kind of stoked. I just met the ripper! It was definately a shining moment in my 111 years on this planet. I got into the Mystic Grill and my eyes were instantly set and a beautiful girl that was at the bar. She didn't seem like just a regular girl so I made it my mission to find out why. I strolled over to the bar and leaned on the counter next to the girl. "G'day. I'll get a vodka tonic." It was the guy who was in here a few days ago. He was smart not to ask any questions. "Why hello." I said staying in my position and turning to face her.

Eva immediately knew the moment he walked into the bar. She was used to sensing out other vampires and couldn't help but wonder if he knew what she was. Some vampires can be so nieve, she thought to herself. She listened as he placed his order and wondered if he would talk to her. Her pondering was answered a few minutes later when she heard him say, "Why hello." She turned to face him and smiled brightly, remembering to keep her guard up just in case though. "Hi," she said softly, figuring shy was the way to go for the moment. "I'm Evangeline Giovanni, though you can call me Eva if you like. What's your name?

I raised an eyebrow, realizing what she was. A vampire. "Gray." I say, "Kai Gray." I could smell her vampire sent. It was an obvious smell that most likely only other vampires can smell. I wanted to make sure, so taking a shot I just and look into her eyes. I gave a look that would instantly draw in a human but it didn't for her. Just then, the bar tender came but with my vodka. I gave him a nod and closed my eyes and brace myself for the burn that was going to arise in my chest. "Woo." I said, "That's an intense drink."

I smiled at him brightly when I saw the eyebrow raise; he knew what I was. My theory was proven correct when he attempted to draw me in. "Kai,' I said aloud, rolling the name off my tongue. "It fits you. Tell me something, you the only one around here like me?" I asked, wanting an idea of how many vampires were settled in this town. Somehow I doubted it, seeing as there were several scents I'd caught when arriving in Mystic Falls. Finishing my drink, I motioned the bartender over. "I'll have one of whatever he's having," I told him, determined to show off. When I heard his response after taking a drink, I knew I was going to have to take it like a man and not complain.

"I know." I shot back to her, arrogantly. "And that's for me to know and you to..." I paused, not able to think of a clever statement. "...I can't think of something creative." She then proceeds to order a vodka tonic as well. "Ah, rolling with the men? Let's hope you can handle it." I said, just as arrogant as before.

"Geez, no need to be rude," I replied, a little caught off guard by his sudden change in attitude. "I was just wondering. And you might want to think out your responses next time before running your mouth off and coming up short." I laughed at that last part, making sure he knew it was at his own expense. Just then the bartender arrived with my new drink and I took a breath before downing it all at once. It burned like hell but I certainly wasn't going to let him know that. If he wanted to play tough guy I'd be more than welcome to join in his game. Coughing once softly, I looked at him and smiled. "Not half bad," I replied, showing him just what I was made of.

"Ooo, fiesty." I said, smiling. She was fiesty cute and a vampire...just my type. "And if thought that was rude, you should be thanking God you're not a human." I joked. She got the drink from the bar and chugged it all down in one gulp. "Damn!" I said watching her tough out the drink. It was hard to drink, but she did it wonderfully.

I chuckled at his response. "Well then, I guess it's a good thing I'm not a human. Though, to be blunt, you are lucky you're not one either." After hearing his response to my drinking, I laughed. "I've been around quite a while. If there's one thing that I've learned how to do well, it's drink." Leaning in I whispered into his ear, "Though I'm a little thirsty for something other than liquor. Do you have anyone who might be willing to give a little donation to the new girl in town?"

I gave a little chuckle, and faced the crowd now leaning my back and elbows on the bar. "Hmm, let's see." Technically everyone will give a donation. You just need a little skill with your eyes and boom you have breakfast lunch and dinner. I used my index finger to point out a girl in stripes, "She looks pretty giving." I then preceded to point out an older looking man, "Then again, he won't put up much of a fight." I turned to her and smiled. "So..?"

I looked at the ones Kai had pointed out, taking note of the different choices before scanning the room myself. "What about him?" I asked, pointing to a dark-haired kid sitting off by himself. He looked to be about 16, a little on the short side and kind of scrawny. He bore a large ring on his hand that I could tell had some importance. "He looks like he'd taste delicious! Do you know who he is?"

OOC: Sorry this will be short.

"Nah." I told her. "I try not to mingle. It makes it easier when I eat them." I chuckled.

I couldn't help but smile at Kai's response. "That's true," I replied with a smirk. "But it also makes for more fun if you get to know them and then they put up a fight when they realize what you're really after." I smiled at Kai, an evil glint in my eye. "What do you say we get out of here and go find ourselves something to eat?"

"I say..." I grabbed my glass and chugged the rest down. "...Lead the way." I motioned her to step in front of me, like the gentlemen I wasn't and that I always despised and tried not to be.

I smiled at Kai and hopped down from the barstool. Heading toward the door, I pushed it open and stepped out into the cool night air. Looking behind be to see if Kai had followed, I then glanced down both ends of the streets to make sure no one was out or heading this way. Seeing no one I sped off into the night, taking a path into the woods. I stopped suddenly, however, when I exited the trees into a clearing. In the middle stood what looked to be a huge boarding house. "Wonder who lives in there," I told Kai, peering up at the magnificent house. "Should we go check it out?" she asked him, suddenly in an investigative mood.

The two of us got outside and I felt a nice little breeze. Suddenly she looked at me then we ran into the woods. I could keep up, she was just naturally faster. Damn. I thought. We finally stopped at a clearing with a huge boarding house. I had never seen it before, but I heard of the Mystic Falls Salvatore Boarding House. Damon and some other brother. It was too boring to remember. "I don't know. Wanna find out?"

I couldn't help but stare at the natural beauty of the house. This is easily the oldest house in Mystic Falls, I thought to myself. Scenting the air I could tell that vampires had been here recently, though I wasn't sure how many. This place was definitely worth getting a closer look at. "Come on," I said, motioning for Kai to follow me as I crept toward the house. "I am so getting a look at the inside."
