Brief History:
Born Anu Elizabet Aalto in Porvoo (modern-day Borgå), Finland to her single mother Kaisa, she grew up an only child. As children around her had a father that loved them and watched childhood fly by, Grace's father did not know that she even existed. Her mother had informed Grace that she would most likely never meet her father. With the constant, gaping hole in her heart, she grew up into a strong, independent eighteen-year-old. By this time, Kaisa had caught the small pox, which slowly ate away her life. She was placed under bed rest until the minute she closed her eyes, Grace gripping her hand.
From the moment her mother died, she was a wreck. Slipping into a dark world of gambling, she wasted away her mother's well-earned money.
Late into one eerie, foggy night, she had consumed one too many drinks, slipping into an unconscious state outside. The next morning, she had awakened in a mysterious home, a woman standing in the corner. She introduced herself as Emmi and informed Grace that the overcoming urge for blood was because she had found her in the early stages of transition outside a building. Emmi and Grace later parted their ways, only to meet two hundred years later when a riot forced crowds of vampires into hiding.
When she arrived in America just before the Civil War, she had decided to move to a town called Point Pleasant. After the Civil War ended, the small town was torn to shreds, forcing the civilians to move to the neighboring town of Mystic Falls. She has lived in Mystic Falls undercover, for the humans at her work believe that she is a human.
