Making the Best of Things

I grinned as she passed me and tried to get around the person in front of me but couldn't. I spent the next 3 laps managing to get past a couple people. Finally it was the last lap and I was right behind her, I nudged the back of her car so she would know I was there.

I lead the next three laps. I was excited as I saw the wire flag appear. I was wondering where Jeremy went untill I felt a nudge. I pulled over a little to get to his side. "I was wondering when you would show up." I said laughing. I fell back a little as we passed the line. Jer won by a bumper. I smilies as I gave him a little thumbs up.

It was neck and neck until the very end. I was surprised when I saw her fall back instead of surge forward. I had won! I got out of my cart once everyone else finished and they released up and walked over to Liz. I was smiling ear to ear. "Good race Salvatore, but I told you, you didn't stand a chance."

I got up after parking my kart and placing my shoes on. "Cockey much, Gilbert?" I said getting behind the gate as the new riders boarded. I smirked up at him and kissed him on the cheeck softly. "Great game Jeremy."

"Nope just honest." I said back to her smirking. I felt her lips touch my cheek and this time it felt right. I raised my hand under her chin and brought her lips up to mine for a real kiss.

I was about to come back at him with some silly thing when it happened. I felt his hand under my small chin and kissed me on the lips. Every thought I had disappeared. Our moment right now felt so real like it was just us in this little entertainment area. I returned his kiss as my hand made its way to rest on his neck. It was perfect.

At first I thought maybe it was a mistake, but that feeling quickly went away after I felt her respond. I reluctlanly pulled back, separating my lips from hers, remembering we were in public. I smiled at her. "So what do you want to do now?" I asked.

I pulled away when he did. It was my first kiss, and I was glad to share it with him. It felt great but we were in public. I looked into his brown eyes with my sea blue ones. I thought about his question. "I don't know. What do you want to do?" my voice had found a tone of soft and innocence. I wasn't smiling a broken smile, it felt full

I shrugged, "It's whatever you want to do. It's nice out, we could just walk." I said. There weren't many other things to do in this town besides movies, eating and a few other things. I didn't care what we ended up doing, just as long as we kept the night going. It was too good to end.

"Walking's nice." I said smiling. I grabbed his hand and laced my fingers between his. I looked to the sidewalk with few people on it. I could never thought that this would happen. There's that thing between his sister and my uncles and then it was us. It felt wired but right. I just didn't want this night to end.

I smiled as I felt her hand in mine and we started walking away from the track. When I had returned home I had no idea of how much things would change, there were parts that I wished didn't happen, but this was something that made up for it. I felt like there was one thing that needed to be discussed though, our families. "So how do we do this without fucking things up more?" I asked, looking at her.

The night was amazing. I sat on the porch with Jeremy looking at the stars. I didn't know how to respond to his question. I took a breath before responding, "I don't know Jeremy. Our lives will always be royally fucked, because of our families. There is nothing that we can do to fix it. We are just going to have to tell Elena tonight and then my uncles and brother tomorrow before we leave."

I nodded, she was right. There was nothing we could do about our families. "Yeah. I guess they'll just have to put up with it since we have to put up with them." I said. I wasn't looking forward to seeing any of them, but it had to happen eventually.

"Why are you making it sound like we are a burden to them? Even if you and Elena are not biological siblings you always will be. She cares a lot for you, and if it were me and my twin I know would have done it for his protection. I'm not taking sides, and I only know a little bit of what happened but she did it to keep you safe." I was being honest about it all. I would have done the same for Adrian and I knew Jeremy would have done it for Elena if the the roles were switched.

"I know why she did it, but why does she have a say in my life. I can make my own decisions. If she honestly wanted me to leave she could have just asked instead of making Damon doing her work for her." I said. Everyone kept telling me the same thing, but they didn't see it from my point point of view.

I knew this was a touchy situation that I should never have brought up. "I know and I am greatly sorry for that. Damon would do anything for Elena, and before he would do it he would think of all the pros and cons before doing it. Don't get me wrong I am not defending him but I am not supporting him either." I took a breath as I looked at him. "We can do this together. Let's talk to Elena now."

"I understand they had good intentions, they just should have thought about what they were really doing. " I said. i knew she was in between a rock in a hard place and I didn't want her to make her have to choose between sides. I didn't even want there to be sides, I just wanted everything to go back to normal. "Alright." I said starting to walk back towards the car.

I walked beside him to my car. He was in between a rock and a hard place just like me. No human should go through life like that. We are not the first but there will be others to follow, espicially the future generations of Salvatore's if I and my brother can manage to survive Mystic Falls. But Jeremy should have never been a situation like mine. I unlocked my car doors and waited for him to get in.
